Elegant Knit Cowl {Knitting}: Free Pattern
This is a gorgeous knit cowl pattern that is very easy to make, and an ideal project for beginning knitters! Perfect for gift giving, and everyday wear.
Supplies:
1 Skein of Loops & Threads Cozy Wool (Or a comparable super bulky weight yarn)
Size US 17 Single Point Needles
Tapestry Needle
Abbreviations:
St: stitch
K: knit
Size: One size; child/teen/ladies.
Gauge: 1.75-2 sts/inch in Garter Stitch
Note: This cowl is knit width-wise, meaning the length around the neck. To make it slouchier, work the piece until it’s a longer length.
Cowl
Cast on 24 stitches using the Long Tail Cast-On Method, or method of your choice.
Row 1: Knit each stitch across.
Repeat row 1 until cowl measures 22 to 24 inches. I worked until I had just enough of the skein of yarn left to bind off and sew the seam.
NOTE: If you’d like the cowl to be wider, therefore hanging a little more loosely around the neck, then continue to knit until you reach the desired width.
Bind off stitches.
Weave in ends.
Using matching yarn and a tapestry needle, and your preferred method for seaming, sew the two short ends together to close.
Slip it on to be stylish and cozy!!
